Making Patch Cords

Making Patch Cords
Question:
I want to make my own cat 5e patch cords. What are the rules on connecting them to the rj45 jack end? Do you just make sure that they are the same color in the rj45 jacks pins or do you change the pin colors at the other end?

Answer:
If it's straight-through cord, just make the same colors at both ends, using any of the pin layouts - T568A or T568B - doesn't matter as long as it's the same at both ends.

However, we would strongly recommend to buy a factory-made cord since patch cords are known as one of the biggest sources of problems with cabling.
