 PHONE SYSTEM
I HAVE A TELEPHONE JACK AND SYSTEM
BUSINESS, I ADDED ANOTHER PHONE TO
THE SYSTEM DIAL TONE WAS THERE BUT
THE INTERCOM WOULD NOT WORK.

Dear DARRELL,

It might have been a two-pair digital phone, where the dial tone is transmitted over the first pair, and the power is supplied over another one.

If your jack is wired for T568B pin layout, then the power is supplied over the pair #3 (green) If the jack is T568A, then #2 (orange).

If this was the case, you would hear the dial tone from the handset, but the speaker wouldn't work. Check the second pair.

Alternatively, that port/extension on the phone system might just not be configured with all the functions mapped to the buttons you need.
