 color codeing cat6
I have to design a new wire diagram and certain wires have to be certain colors, ie fiber is orange, maintenance is yellow, is there something that lists a commonly used color for the different parts of the network or is it up the every company to design their own idea.

need to know wiring closet color, server to server, different v-lans, patch panel colors to a user or a printer and so on..

Dear Vipin,
These parts of a network don't have certain color code as yet. It's really up to individual company to select any color. However, the choice is pretty limited to the colors that are available from manufacturers. You fiber optic cable will be orange, slate (multimode) or yellow (singlemode). You CAT5E cables may be almost any color imaginable but usualy only slate, blue and white is on-stock and so on. Bear in mind that planning for some non-standard color you automatically raise you total project cost.

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
