connection of telephone via rj45 outlets
We have a telephone line feeding a modem through an asdl filter the modem works fine and so does a single phone pluged into the filter We wish to punch this voice line to a patch panel to distribute to up to four RJ45 outlets but can't figure out the punchdown sequence
Can you help?

Dear John ,

A single phone line always uses pair #1 - blue pair which should be marked on your patch panel port as such. If I was doing a connection like the one you are doing, I would take five (5) patch panel ports and punch down (without cutting) a continuous pair connecting blue pairs (#1) of all five ports of the patch panel. Then I would plug a cord coming from the DSL filter into one of the ports and take the signal from each of the remaining four ports that you needed.

Good luck!

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
