 punch blocks
Is there any real difference between a cat5 and cat6 partch panel? I'm clear about the differnces between cat5/cat5e and cat6 cables. Can a cat5 patch panel be used for cat6 cabling?

Thanks for providing such a wonderful resource!

Dear robert,

Yes from a standards/performance standpoint there is quite a difference.

Could a Category 5 or 5e panel be used with category 6 cable?, Yes but the highest category performance will be equal to the lesser piece of equipment in the link.

Sincerely,
Joseph Golan, RCDD
