Is it possible to run cat5 into a RJ12 plugend? Using only 1 set of wires. Phone use only.

Dear lee,

yes it is possible but I do not recommend it as most male RJ12 heads are made for stranded wire and standard cat 5(e) is a solid conductor. Even if you can get it to work initially, the connection will break down after only a few flexes of the cable. You are much better off terminating the cable in a proper jack and then use a modular cord to connect to the telephone.

Sincerely,
