i want to know the formula to calculate the area of a Raceway(For eg: area of 300 X 50 mm raceway)
Answer by Joseph Golan posted 03 Jul 2005
Dear johnson,

I typically use the 40% rule for raceways that have 3 or more cables. First find the area of the raceway A = L x W for a rectangular raceway and multiple it by 40%. (A=300x50=1500 x 40%= 600 sq mm. Then calculate the circular area of the cable A = pi x radius squared , divide the cable area into 600 to calculate the maximum number of cables.
