2"pvc capacity for cat5e in any grouping

Existing pathway is composed of 2"pvc conduit transferring (dumping) into a 4" wide Walker duct(infloor trench style duct((conduit spills into ducting blindly at unkownpoint of the run that is no longer accessible))) total distance of 175'. Need to provide 4 standard Cat5e cables per desk (8desks= 8desks x4cables x4pr= 132pairs ) as a 4port outlet at one end and terminate to patch panel on other. As conduit is old and concerns have been raised about capacity as well as strict pulling time line of 5hrs as job requires "Downing of site"--is it best to pull 32 individual cables or to pull in 6x25pr cat5e punch to a 66block then go individual cables to each desk once outside the conduit???

I am currently installing a cat5 ethernet connection in my home, and i have installed the rj45 jack correctly on both ends. I am using the {b} phase of coloring, and my tester is telling me that i have a transposed pair of wires, and this is really bothering me . I do not know what that means, and what to do to fix it. Any help is very gratefull.

Thank you

Signal amplification

I just got a new 46" Mitsubishi LCD. My signal at the set is 32, Fair. I saw this on the monitor when the Cable Tech arrived to test the system. He said everything was OK. The normal digital stations...480p... are somewhat fuzzy, all high definition are good. I loose all the high definition stations if I remove the amplifier, a Scientific Atlantic.

My cable is split to the broadband and to the amplifier, then to an eight position splitter. If the signal is 32 at the set, can I put a second amplifier in series to boost the signal another 15dba. I have been told you can burn out the box with too strong a signal, but an additional 15 would only boost to about 47. I have also been told by Best Buy that a booster will not work on digital, only analog, so you obviously cannot believe all you hear.

Are you aware how to call up on the monitor the cable status including signal strength Provider is Suddenlink and box is Pace

Wire Wrap Standards

I have an employee who tells me that it doesn't matter if he wire wraps the wire on the left side or right side of the pins on the frame in our CO. I tell him that the wire wrap gun wraps the the wire clockwise, and that we were taught to bring the wires down on the right hide and then wrap them on. With blocks that have wires run upward we bring the wire up on the left hand side of the pin and wrap it on. Is there any BSP or wiring specification that gives you the correct proceedure for wire wrapping x-connection wires on a frame in the CO.

Transition Splices (50ft rule)

What is the deciding factor in the 50ft rule of entering a building?
Is it the fire rateing of the sheath or the electrical properties of the copper pairs and sheilding or both?
If it is just the sheath, why do they not make an indoor/outdoor copper cable.
Another question is do all OSP copper cables (like PE-89), regardless of the distance outside need transition splices and protection on both ends?

Stranded vs. Solid

I have a question, a Co worker of mine who has a certification in network wiring is trying to tell me that there is no difference in 8 position ends for stranded canble and solid cable and that the ends he purchased for stranded cable can be used on solid cable to make patch cords? Can you tell me if this correct ro not and if not why?

Thank You.

punchdown technique

I have had issues getting a successful punchdown on network drops. What is the best 'technique' to punchdown the wires to ensure there is a clean install on each wire on a cat-5. Specifically, I am talking about the network drop in the respective office, as well as back at the block.

Also, is there a simple with to certify the connection, like just use a router and laptop on each end and ping?

CCTV Cabling

We are looking at installing a new CCTV system as part of our works when refurbishing/extending a power station. We have to indicte underground cable routes through out the site to present for our site providers approval. As yet we do not have any information on the underlying soil and are unsure if it may aid the degration of the cables over time. Can you give advise on typical lifespans of CCTV cabling and if ducting the cables will hold any advantages in this respect.

Ethernet in my home

I have a smart box in my home but the ethernet wires were never connected in the smart box even though they go to each room where I have two Cat % jacks in each room, one for phone which is hooked up and the other for Ethernet. I was wondering what I need to add to the smart box to connect the ethernet cables too so that I can connect computers, etc to the ethernet and get them all to talk? What I want to do it have the cable Router send the ethernet signal from one room back to the smart box and then have it feed into the rest of the rooms so I can connect computers and printers to it. My wireless isnt' working well sine the house is made of Rastra (a Concrete material) and I'm getting lots of dropped signals.

Thanks,
Andrew
