splitting cat5e to voice and data
I currently have cat5e utilized for voice and would like to split it for data. I would like to use the same cat5e cable for data and voice. What color of the cable should I utilized from the voice for data?

Dear Ber,
Although this is not reccommended typically people will split out the white/orange and white/green pairs for the 10/100BaseT application leaving the white/blue and white/brown pairs for voice.

The color code for the data remains as per T568A or T568B (your choice) using only the the 2 pairs listed above and voice will require the white/blue pair cut down in it's normal position.

See the "references|pinouts" above for the color codes.
On this site there is also information under the "references|pinouts| on splitting a cat 5e for two data outlets (last item on page)

Sincerely,
Joseph Golan, RCDD
