 help!!
i bought a roll of cat 6 cables and RJ-45 connectors. I put them together myself. I used this diagram on BOTH ends
Pin1=White orange
2=orange
3=white green
4=blue
5=white blue
6=green
7=white brown
8=brown

i went to a part and plugged it into a Xbox console into a Netgear router and it did not work.
please help

Dear lucas,

Your pin-out is fine (provided it is the same at both ends). What I suspect is that you may be using the wrong 8 pin modular plug (I am assuming you are using a plug rather then a jack.

I am also going to assume that you are using solid conductor cable. Most modular plugs are made to work with stranded wire which typically leads to poor quality or open connections with solid conductor cable. Another point is that the make up of plugs for category 6 cable is very difficult to achieve full performace (up to category 6). You will need to verify (test) your cable as a minium for continuity. However you will not be able to tell which end is the culprit without expensive test equipment that incorporates a TDR function.
