 Buying wire
I am looking for a quality, but cheap CAT5e wire. Do you recommend any specific brand or supplier. I am using this wire in a school building that was built in 1965.

Dear Douglas,

It does seem sometimes that quality and cheap do not go well with each other.
We did, however, have success in keeping costs down by using Berk-Tek's HYPER Plus 5E cable. This is what they call "minimal compliant" CAT5E cable, and in most cases it works just fine, leaving comfortable performance margin when tested. A lot of this cable goes into school jobs we do, so you may want to look at it, too.
I can only recommend suppliers we use, and lately it has almost exclusively been Accutech (http://www.accu-tech.com). You may want to check if they have an office that serves your area. Another choice would be Graybar (http://www.graybar.com). Those guys are all over the place, so in US you can normally find tem in any major city.

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
