 CAT5 Phone Connection
My husband is trying to wire a CAT5 wire to a normal phone plug - thus using the CAT5 wire as a phoneline. Can this be done? What colors and in what order should we connect to the plug? Thank you.

Dear Kathy,

Regular phone uses only one pair, and it's usually the white/blue-blue pair. These two conductors should be in contact with two middle pins of the phone plug. It's difficult to give you more detailed advice since I do not know what's on the other end of the cable, but if you use the blue pair (it's #1, BTW), you should be fine.

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
