|<!=question>My husband is trying to wire a CAT5 wire to a normal phone plug - thus using the CAT5 wire as a phoneline. Can this be done? What colors and in what order should we connect to the plug? Thank you.<!=question_end>|

Regular phone uses only one pair, and it's usually the white/blue-blue pair. These two conductors should be in contact with two middle pins of the phone plug. It's difficult to give you more detailed advice since I do not know what's on the other end of the cable, but if you use the blue pair (it's #1, BTW), you should be fine.
