making a ring of ethernet hubs
Well i have a setup of 3 hubs hub 1 is on the first floor of the building
hub 2 is on the 2nd floor of the building
hub 3 is on the 3rd floor of the building

hub 1 is connected with hub 2 & hub to has a wire going to hub 3 ..
now i am taking one wire from hub 1 to hub 3
i want to ask that if the link between hub 1 & 2 breaks will the network still be up ?
if not will this setup create any network performance drawbacks ?
thankx

Dear Faisal,

This will not work. You cannot create a ring with 10/100BASE-T Ethernet devices that are designed for star topology only.

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
