how many pair and what gauge is cat 6?

Dear Theresa, CAT6 has the same number of pairs - four, same color code and same gauge (conductor diameter) as CAT5E. The manufacturers tend to increase the CAT6 conductor diameter slightly to fight attenuation, but it's still considered 24AWG. Sincerely, Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
