 CAT5E cable limitations
What is the limitation in terms of distance from switch or hub to the termination point for CAT5E? Will I be able to connect a Pc which is at 300 mts distance (other building) from the switch?

Dear Karthik,

No, 300 meters is way too far. You have to stay within 100 meters (total cable and patch cords length) from a hub/switch to a workstation. You may want to consider fiber optic link to the other building, especially if there is a chance that there will be more PCs in the other building added later.

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
