	Cat5 vs Cat5E Plenum Rated

Dear Bill, I don't have issues of NEC (National Electrical Code) dated back to 80s or earlier to check when exactly the plenum requirement was established, but you can be sure Category 5 itself is (much) younger than the NEC's requirement to install specially rated cable in air handling areas. I have AT&T Systimax book dated 93' and the industry's very first CAT5 plenum cable - 2061 is already there, UL Listed Type CMP/MPP. So, you can easily guess CAT5 plenum, cables are at least 10 years on the market. Sincerely, Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
