 What cat5 cable do I use with my cablr router?
Hi, I have linksys router running of my cable modem. What type of cat5e pin configuration am I supposed to use? I tried to make my own cable. It works but very very slow. Tahnsk Chris

Dear Chris,

If it works at all, it means that the pin configuration that you use is OK. However, the cable that you crimped yourself may cause excessive cross-talk that affects the speed of your network.

I would always recommend to buy factory-made patch cords whenever possible. Users never consider the cords ‘big deal’, although recent researches show that they cause great deal of problems to networks. It's getting more and more important as new cabling categories are being introduced to the market.
