Bidirectional means that the same pair of wires can be both transmitting and receiving signals.
how is it possible to send and recieve simultaneously on a single wire.

Dear Rahul,

Check out CISCO Ethernet Technology Whitepaper for more info on how it's done.

The bottom line: to transmit and receive on the same pair the hybrid transmitter subtracts the transmitted signal from signal that's being received and end result is the incoming data.

If you want to go really deep into details, read this paper on Gigabit Ethernet Physical sublayer as well

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
