 dsl phone jack to rj45
I currently get DSL Internet service from Verizon through a standard telephone jack (i think it's called rj11) that hooks into a DSL modem. I'm getting a new computer with an ethernet card built in. Can I hook up the wall jack directly to the ethernet card (which has an rj45 connection)? How do I do it?

Dear George,
I am guessing that you are currently connected from the DSL modem to your old PC via a USB port.
No you will still need a DSL modem for this to work correctly as the inbound DSL signal and the Ethernet signal is completely different. Most DSL modems have both a USB and Ethernet output. If not then continue to use the USB connection to your new PC. I am also going to assume that this is the only PC in your home and will not need a Router/Hub.

If you repost with the model of your DSL modem, I may be able to better guide you.

Sincerely,
Joseph Golan, RCDD
