 Cable Length
This might be a stupid question, but here goes - Is there software that will allow to measure cable length, in particular for thinnet cable?

Thanks,
Pat

Dear Pat,

I don't think that just normal NIC card is equipped with everything what's needed for reflectometry. This is a technique that is used for cable length measurement. Besides, it requires pretty much of digital signal processing.

That's why I never heard of software only solution.

There are some (relatively) inexpensive tools from for ex. Fluke or Microtest, but they have pretty complex electronics onboard as well as software (firmware) to perform the task.

Sincerely,
Dmitri Abaimov, RCDD
