 RJ8 to 2.5mm Adapter
I have a phone with a 2.5mm headset jack. I bought a blueparrott wireless headset. The cable that came with the headset has an RJ8 (handset size) connector. Is there an adapter that has a female RJ8 socket and a 2.5mm plug so I can connect the headset to the phone.

If not, can you tell me how to wire it if I try to make one from parts from the local radio shack?

Dear Steve,

On the RJ8 Headset/Handset connector the center two pins are for the Microphone (Transmitter) and the outer two pins are for the speaker (receiver).

On a 2.5mm jack, it is typically wired as follows:
TIP:Headphone speaker signal (typically around 32 ohm element)
RING: Microphone signal (typically electret capsule)
SHIELD: Ground for both speaker and microphone signals

It is unknown though if the signal levels will be a proper match between these two pieces of equipment.

Sincerely,
Joseph Golan, RCDD
