Can I use a splitter on CAT 5 patch cable to connect two computers to one data source?
If it is possible how can it's possible
Answer by Joseph Golan posted 13 Dec 2005

These are used to split a cable into two 2-pair segments to allow connection to 2 devices from 2 ports on a hub. It does this for either 10BaseT or 100BaseT Ethernet which only use 2 pairs (pairs 2 & 3). Pairs 1 & 4 of the second connection are re-directed to pairs 2 & 3.

These cannot be used in place of a hub or switch where two PC connections are needed from a single original port.
If you need to go to additional PCs you will need an additional hub or switch.

Hope that clears up the mystery for you.
