is it possible to find a cable with ethernet on one end and a adsl connection on the other, or to get an ehternet to adsl adapter??

Dear Juliann ,

No, this is the function of a DSL modem/router. These are two different protocals and requires elctronics to convert the signal. You may want to search for dsl modem or look at this site for tis type of equipment. Your dsl provider should also be helpful in this area.
