Can I replace cat5e cables with cat6 cables. Will I need new hardware or can I just plug in to existing ports

Dear Donald,

Category 6 is backward compatible to category 5e so you do not have to upgrade everything just because you are introducing some category 6 components to a category 5e system. Your overall category rating will be as high as the lowest components.

Sincerely,
Joseph Golan, RCDD
