What is the difference between Cat5 and Cat5e cable?

Dear Bob,

AS you can guess it is pretty close. Cat 5e specs were refined (enhanced) from the cat5 specs to insure 1000BaseT operations. As 1000BaseT was going of age, it was learned that the original cat 5 had a few faults with timing and crosstalk issues.

Similarly cat 6 may end up being enhanced or augmented to include 10Gig Ethernet operations.
