 | Question by Mohammed Abbas posted 13 Jan 2005 | Cable Designing for Big Building | Hi, I'm designing the cabling structure of my company's new building which is upto 9 floors & from ground to 4th Floor it has two wings on each floor & each wing has 4 zones. My company will not utilize whole building as we will give some floors/wings/zones to other companies on rent. May be we will use IP Telephony, so no need for Telephone/PBX cabling on our floors but what about other floor, any one can suggest that what will be the best solution i.e. whether we provide both data & telephone network in complete building from the starting or we should only provide data network & before giving them on rent we can ask tenants about PBX/IP Telephony network??. This is very big project & i will send my inquiry from time-to-time. Thanks for giving your precious time to read this big question , I Hope i will get very good sugesstion from you people. We will be using Fibre Optics for our Data Network, | | Answer by Dmitri Abaimov posted 14 Jan 2005 | Dear Mohammed,
You are facing a significant challenge here, and I do not feel comfortable giving any suggestions without looking at the plans and learning more about the project. One reasonable suggestion I can make though is that you visit BICSI website and purchase yourself the most recent version of the TDMM (Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual). This document will provide you with wealth of useful information about cabling, and on the project of the size of yours you will probably come across most situations described there.
Good luck!
